Books make the best gifts!
If you follow my Facebook group (search Real Steals and Deals) you see me say over and over “Books make the best gifts”. I love to give books as gifts and love even more to receive books as gifts. Books are personal. They’re meaningful. They’ll take you places you never knew you wanted to go …from a castle on a hillside to a hut on the beach, from the home of dragons to the inside of a French train station… When you gift a book it shows you have put real time and thought into the gift you’re giving. A piece of you, something you love, given to someone you care about for them to love too. It’s intimate and it’s special and it, like a good book, should be celebrated.
So what books do I love to give? Here are a few of my favorites!
Harry Potter: I mean, it goes without saying, right? If you’re keeping score, Goblet of Fire is my favorite. But the illustrated books are so incredibly beautiful that I’ll read any of them, anytime! Did you know you can preorder Book 4 now?
Little Women: Jo…and then Beth…the first book I remember crying through.
The Pilot’s Wife: I often thing about the description of the balls we juggle in life and try to remember who is glass and who will bounce. It’s helped through more than one bad day at the office.
How to Train your Dragon (1-13): I love any books I can read with my kids, especially a series where the character grows up. Another series that is crushing but so wonderfully amazing.
Doctor Ted: My favorite read out loud to my littles. They laugh and laugh.
Honorable mention to The Book With No Pictures that my littles read at Papa’s house and then quote for days on end. Badungeeface!
Best Auntie Ever!
I’m the proud Auntie of some of the sweetest kids you can imagine! Ranging from 3 to 22, spoiling these kiddos is one of my favorite things to do! When my oldest niece was born, I was in high school and thought the best way to spoil her was to send frilly dresses. Now that I’ve got kids of my own, I know the way to spoil is to send gifts Mom and Dad would never buy on their own! Check out some of my favorites!
- Use this Bounce House indoors! My 3 year old nephews can’t get enough! And Mom happily approved for those long winter days!
- My sweet southern Goddaughter thinks she would like to have her own unicorn! This giant pool float keeps her happily in the sunshine. Rumor has it she might be part mermaid and this may be under her tree this holiday season!
- All of the children in my life get a Micro kickboard scooter. Practically before he could walk, my little one was sneaking off on his brother’s scooter. I even bought an adult scooter for my husband a few years ago! Worth the money and they have great holiday sales!
Soccer Season…Again!
With two boys who play fall soccer, cleats are a must have as we get ready for the season and the rate that feet grow with two little boys is alarming! These Adidas youth cleats have been our faithful friend year after year! They even fit my super wide foot 10 year old (he gets it from his father!). Check out their Youth Sports Bundle as well if you’re just starting out and need shin guards and a ball to get you ready for practice!

In a life before I had two jobs, two kids and a #travelhusband, I used to read SO MUCH! It’s a piece of me that I look forward to finding again on the other side of these busy years. And I’m making 2019 the year I commit to getting books back in my life (so much time sitting in the car pool line at band pick up and soccer practices!). If you’re looking to step back into reading, or you’re just looking for a suggestion for a book to share, here are a few of my favorites!
